Working Mechanism
- Pneumatic plugs can be positioned into the pipe at a distance equal to the pipe diameter.
- Connect one end of the inflation hose to the plug inflation fitting.
- Brace / block the plug.
- Inflate pressure to the plug through the inflation hose and let it stabilise.
- Proceed with testing of pipe or other uses of the plug.
- Release plug pressure from outside the danger zone until the plug is completely deflated and remove the bracing / blocking system.

- Cherne original Big-Mouth plugs have an interchangeable, large male NPT threaded bypass flange.
- They are equipped with a removable, 3/8-inch eye bolt to lower and lift the plugs using a poly-lift line.
- These units have a removable tank valve for easy replacement with an optional quick disconnect.

The inflation pressure should be checked and maintained a minimum of once per 4 hours while in use.
What will happen during over-inflation or under-inflation of the plugs?
- Over-inflation: It may cause the plug to dislodge and rupture at extreme velocity.
- Under-inflation: It may cause the media and the plug restrained to dislodge from the pipe.
